MY APPROACH

My approach is warm and honest, my images are sometimes big and loud, sometimes quiet and tender, but always authentic and a reflective of the two people at the centre of the it all. Getting to know my clients is huge for me, because without doing so how can I be in a position to tell your story? At the end of the day, what I want is for people who have never met you before to be able to see the images and get a sense of who you are, both as individuals and to each other. To get a sense of the relationships that are important to you, to feel like they know some of the characters that make up your life. I want you to be able to look back at them and feel some shadow of what you felt in that moment.

My Pricing

There is certainly no shortage of photographers, and there’s a whole heap of prices out there. But if you’ve ventured this far into my site, hopefully you connect with my work (and for that alone, THANK YOU!). My pricing reflects the time I put into creating your photos and regardless of the package you opt for, it includes the following:

  • Pre-project consultation - be it an in-person coffee, wine, beer or Skype (although I always insist on meeting in person if possible). You will have my undivided attention and care from the outset to make sure everything goes the way you want it to. I have plenty of tips to help the project run as smoothly as possible and will make myself available for any advice and help you need throughout the planning process.
  • Ongoing communication throughout the duration of the project.
  • A password-protected, online gallery showcasing your pictures in all their glory (you can also use it to order prints #boomtown).

The estimates listed for the different packages below are meant to serve as a guide. As you can appreciate, every client / project is different so let's talk about your needs first before we delve into the numbers.

If all this sounds fine and dandy to you, please kindly fill out the client questionnaire and we can rock n'roll our way from there. Thanks so much!

Testimonials

Dustin & Leah

Ben of Fine and Dandy photography was a real treat to work with. He took what would normally be an uncomfortable and generic experience and turned it into a fun day for our family. He's got an amazing eye and gave real thought to when and where we should shoot in order to get it exactly right. If you know Ben, you know he takes pride in his work, and it shows in the end result. We couldn't imagine having anyone else do our family photos going forward.

FAQ

Do you shoot film?

Yes! I love to take pictures with both my 35mm and medium-format cameras. If you're after that filmic look, let's talk. Just a heads up that it's a more time consuming process overall (and therefore more costly) than when shooting digital.

Do you provide make-up?

Personally, I wouldn't have a clue where to start but fear not, I know people who do. If you want a make-up artist (recommended for headshots), I can sort this out, no problem. We just need to factor in additional costs to cover their time.

Do you offer discounts?

Discounts are available for students and returning clients. I also have a number of special offers going on throughout the year so keep your eyes peeled on social media and the website for further details when the time comes.

Do you shoot video?

I can but this is not my area of expertise. If you'd like to bolt on some video production to my photography services, let's talk. I know a bunch of amazing people in the industry who'd be able to help out.

How do I receive my images?

Your photographs will be accessible to view and download via an online, password protected gallery. I'll send you an email with all these details as soon as the shortlisted images are ready to be shared. Then, depending on your chosen package, you'll have the chance to buy and/or download your photographs in both high and web resolution formats.

Are you willing to travel?

100% YES. I love traveling, especially for a photography project. It's also worth noting that I speak fluent French which always comes in handy in certain situations!

Do you offer prints?

Yup, sure do. A whole of heap of print packages are made available on the online gallery. So, whether you're looking for a few postcards or a large canvas, I've got you covered amigo.

How long will it take to receive my photos?

Well, it really depends on the type of project you commission me for. As a general rule of thumb, family and portrait sessions usually take about 2 weeks to turnaround. For weddings, the final images will delivered within 6 weeks of the Big Day - it's normally closer to 4 but just in case things are super busy!

What kind of photo editing/retouching do you do?

I edit all the photographs I take. For family/lifestyle sessions, events and weddings, I make small tweaks (coloring, exposure, cropping, that kind of thing). For portraits and headshots, the process is a bit more time-consuming because of the additional processes required (e.g. removing blemishes and smoothing skin color). Overall though, I like editing and retouching to look as natural as possible so if you're looking for more intensive post-production, I can put you in touch with professional retouchers.

Do you work with other photographers?

I like to fly solo 99% of the time but if the project needs an extra pair of hands, I'll bring in one or several photography assistants (this will be an additional charge).
